Description

Many JAG specialists struggle to get students to engage with reflection or journaling, even though self-awareness is one of the most important skills we want students to develop. Participants will understand why traditional journaling often fails with disengaged students and how storytelling prompts can increase participation and honesty in reflection activities. They will learn a simple reflection structure that uses short, story-based prompts to help students explore experiences, decisions, and personal growth without feeling like they are completing another assignment. Participants will also leave with practical examples and a repeatable framework they can implement as a quick weekly activity or as a full year of bell work. This structure supports the development of key JAG competencies including self-awareness, communication, resilience, and future planning.
