As communities prepare students for an increasingly complex workforce, nonprofit and education leaders must rethink how traditional models evolve to meet modern demands. This session will explore how The Pando Initiative, a 35-year-old organization serving students across Kansas, transformed its long-standing school-based support model to better align with the intersection of education, workforce development, and technology.

Participants will learn how Pando reimagined its programs through the development of “The Pando Way,” a strategic framework built around five core pillars: Financial Literacy, Academics, Student Support Services, Social-Emotional Learning, and Fulfillment of Basic Needs. This transformation included rebranding and strengthening its high school programming (Pando NextGen) to focus on post-secondary readiness and workforce pathways.

The session will also highlight how Pando leveraged technology and AI-enhanced tools to modernize its financial literacy initiative, Reality U, creating scalable simulations that help thousands of students each year understand real-world financial decisions tied to careers, income, and life outcomes. These innovations have allowed the organization to expand its reach, deepen student impact, and attract new funding partnerships.
